ICRI Global’s Education & Learning Hubs are transforming how communities approach climate
challenges by creating spaces where youth and elders can share knowledge, learn from each other, and
co-create solutions. These hubs operate as dynamic learning centers that combine traditional ecological
wisdom with modern climate science, fostering dialogue and collaboration across generational lines.

Our pilot hub in Papua New Guinea has demonstrated the power of intergenerational learning, where
marine biologists work alongside traditional knowledge holders to develop community-based coral reef
monitoring systems. Young people gain practical skills that university education alone couldn’t provide,
while elders see their knowledge validated and preserved through collaborative documentation and
application to contemporary challenges.

As we expand our hub network globally, each location adapts our intergenerational model to local
contexts while maintaining the same core principle: that climate resilience emerges when different
generations combine their unique perspectives, experiences, and skills. These learning spaces are
becoming catalysts for innovation, creating solutions that honor both cultural heritage and scientific
advancement.
